Every year, I try to keep a simple homemade bug spray on hand that smells fresh, is easy to make, and can be tossed into a beach bag, diaper bag, or picnic basket. I love using essential oils to create a more natural option for our family during the summer months.

This spray:

DIY Summer Bug Spray Recipe
You’ll Need:
- 2 oz spray bottle
- Distilled water
- Witch hazel
- 10 drops Lavender essential oil
- 10 drops Tea Tree essential oil
- 10 drops Lemongrass essential oil
- 5 drops Peppermint essential oil
Directions:
- Add essential oils to the spray bottle.
- Fill halfway with witch hazel.
- Top off with distilled water.
- Shake well before each use.
That’s it! Super simple.

- Avoid spraying near eyes or sensitive skin.
- Reapply as needed when outdoors.
- Store in a cool place during hot summer months.
